Synopsis

Engage with commissioned works by Singapore artists across four exhibitions around Esplanade.

Breath of the Land 呼吸之地 by Lim Soo Ngee and Yang Jie at the Esplanade Concourse reflects on Singapore’s ever-evolving built environment, reflecting on ideas of renewal, utility and memories embedded in our urban landscape.

Adopting research-based methodologies, Fajrina Razak, Ben Loong and Tiffany Loy engage with mediums and processes rooted in deep artistic traditions. This exhibition at Jendela presents works that push conceptual boundaries, responding and speaking to our present.

Meshes and Teeth by Stephanie Jane Burt at the Esplanade Tunnel interrogates the symbolic nuances embedded in the exhibition’s title. Burt weaves a visual vocabulary inspired by literature, film and material culture into her material explorations.

At the Esplanade Community wall, Between Vistas by Chen Shitong explores what entails the ‘ideal landscape’, unpacking how the construction and depiction of landscapes can be imbued with narrative intent.
