Synopsis

Space Open is made from things that resist - cardboard, fabric, thread, wood, screws, granite, ceramics. You push, they push back. Some bend, some crack, some stay where they are. Decisions are made, undone, abandoned. Control arrives, slips away, comes again. Stability appears, then vanishes. The works do not resolve; they endure. They hold traces of effort, friction, surrender and insistence, marks of what could and could not be done. Each material carries its own weight, its own refusal. The exhibition is not about mastery or coherence. It is about presence, endurance, and negotiation, the quiet tension that exists when materials, hands, and intention meet without, yielding entirely. Space open. Nothing else promised.

Amos Vincent Wong is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice exists at the intersection of painting, drawing and sculpture, creating both wall- based works and free-standing abstract forms. Guided by an intuitive, process driven approach, Amos allows the inherent qualities of his materials to shape the direction of his work. In his current body of work, Amos engages deeply with abstraction and action, resulting in forms that balance between disciplines and challenge conventional boundaries. At the core of his practice is an exploration of people, situations and the narratives that unfold through the language of his paintings and sculptures.

Amos' work has been featured in a variety of group exhibitions, including Together - Art Exhibition in support of the President's Challenge 2025 curate by Artualize Art Gallery, CANVAS ART X SINGAPORE WRITERS FESTIVAL 2024 @The Art House, The Winston Oh Travelogue Award 2025 Exhibition, TextureEvo2025@The Art House, The Lasalle Show 2025, ThePurpleGallery - Clay Exhibition (SingaporeArtWeek2025), Moving Forward Together and Garden of Possibilities (Yellow Ribbon Exhibitions,2019 and 2021), Home is Where the heART Is (2022-23), Routes' Gallery@10square (2021), The Drawing Wonder Exhibition (2022).
