Synopsis

Through art and craft techniques, you'll explore how simple everyday objects can be transformed into expressive forms, encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and imaginative storytelling.

As you assemble your Dalek, you'll also learn to identify its iconic parts, understand their functions, and discover how robot-building was imagined in the 1960s - an era when science fiction, engineering ambitions, and toy innovation shaped how people viewed the future. By constructing your own model, you'll gain insight into the early mechanisms and design language that made the Dalek one of pop culture's most recognisable robot.

About The Toy Dalek Story Through Art & Innovation
The Toy Dalek Story Through Art & Innovation explores the evolution of the iconic Dalek, from its origins as a 1960s television villain in Doctor Who to its reinvention as a symbol of innovation, design, and imaginative play.

From guided tours to film screenings, an AI Ambassador Creation panel, and hands-on craft activities, this programme line-up showcases how the Dalek's story reflects the fusion of art and technological innovation in popular culture, while highlighting the museum's commitment to creating toy experiences where art and technology come alive together.
