Turning Waste Into Art

Themed “Turning Waste to Art”, the 7th CDL Singapore Sculpture Award draws inspiration from the concept of the circular economy, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. The Award challenges artists to turn residual waste, some of which collected waste from CDL construction sites, into a sculpture that reflects a nation that is progressive, forward-looking and sustainable. In celebration of Singapore Art Week, CDL is pleased to unveil two commissioned sculptures inspired by Malay heritage, titled "Cycle" and "Traditional Wisdom". Both winning sculptures (Open and Student Categories) are aptly housed at Wisma Geylang Serai, a cultural heritage integrated hub that promotes arts, culture and cohesiveness. To commemorate the unveiling of the sculptures, CDL is calling for photo submissions from the public. The best submissions stand a chance to win $100 worth of CDL shopping vouchers! Simply submit two artistic shots of the sculptures and answer a question via tinyurl.com/cdlsculpturesub. This contest will take place from 14 Jan to 14 Feb 2022.

Artist List: Peerada Liewchanpatana (TH), Ng Wen Jie (SG).
