The Lines We Draw is a new series of works created during Robert Zhao Renhui's visit to Yalu River earlier in 2019 during the migration season where millions of migratory birds travel from New Zealand to Alaska via China and North Korea. Every morning during high tide, more than 50,000 birds flew up, forming huge murmurations. The artist tries his best to photograph the lines that the birds drew in the sky, in his attempts to investigate the systems that humans set up to understand animals.
