Of Wax, Dyes and Labour

Of Wax, Dyes and Labour is an artistic response to Batik. Seven Singapore-based artists of different practices will be presenting new works, paying homage to the traditional art form that is considered obsolete and labour intensive in contemporary times. Artists were given the liberty to translate, juxtapose or amalgamate their work into elements found in Batik such as its technique, process, materials, motifs and usage of the fabric.

Our selected group of artists includes a ceramist, illustrators, wood-based artist, photo-based artist, performance artist and a printmaker.

Featuring the works of Aklili Zakaria, Almostasthma, AmirahRau, Fajrina Razak, Lee Wan Xiang, Shane Ng and Yang Jie.
