MENTAL: Colours of Wellbeing

Co-curated by ArtScience Museum and Science Gallery Melbourne, MENTAL: Colours of Wellbeing is a welcoming space where visitors can embark on an intimate journey to navigate the different ways of being, surviving and connecting in the modern age.

Instead of dwelling on mental illness, treatments or cures, MENTAL features 24 projects and large-scale installations by contemporary artists, scientists, makers, and designers that confront societal biases and stereotypes about mental health in an accessible way. There are also seven artworks by Singaporean and Southeast Asian artists exploring this from uniquely Southeast Asian perspectives.

Grouped into four broad themes (Connection, Exploration, Expression and Reflection), visitors can chart their own path through various installations, in the same way that each person’s journey is unique and personal. The exhibition encourages visitors to reflect upon, question and empathise with what it means to be human.

Price per ticket:
Singapore Residents, Adult: S$18, Child: S$14
Tourists, Adult: S$21, Child: S$16

Masterclass: Your State of Mind with Lee Yi Xuan

7 January 2023 11am – 12.30pm

How do you express your feelings when there are no words to describe them? What if drawing circles could be the solution?

Led by Singaporean artist Lee Yi Xuan, the masterclass is a mindful drawing exercise where you will scratch and scribble circles on a piece of acrylic block. Apart from drawing circles – a common method used in art therapy as a mean to help one express and understand their innermost feelings – you will also learn more about grounding techniques, a self-soothing method using various materials.

At the end of the masterclass, participants will be able to enjoy an introduction to Yi Xuan work State of Mind, located in the exhibition MENTAL: Colours of Wellbeing. Yi Xuan will share more on the concept and inspiration behind the artwork.

S$35 per participant, includes all materials and a free and easy visit to MENTAL: Colours of Wellbeing.
