This outdoor installation is a response to Desmond Kon’s sonnet This Mirrored Dias of History and Signs and Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities. The mirror is adopted as a metaphor to frame the dialogue of the encounter between the East and West. In Chinese literati painting, the mirror is considered an illusionary picture and a view to what is behind us, reflecting our past. This melting mirror, which reveals hidden messages during the night, blurs the distinction between dreams and memories, confusing shadows and ink.
