Objectifs presents the premiere of Dance of a Humble Atheist, a new work by Toh Hun Ping, one of Singapore’s most innovative contemporary video artists known for his self-invented techniques of bleaching, scratching and recycling filmstrips that lead to his unique work.
Presented after a six-year hiatus, this multidisciplinary visual arts
installation marks a new stage of Toh’s artistic journey with the
incorporation of ceramics into his practice. In a meticulous work
created through the painstaking, frame by frame animation and
digital manipulation of hundreds of his own handmade ceramic tiles, Toh expounds on death, faith, the possibility of the
afterlife, the natural world, consciousness and time.
Dance of a Humble Atheist is complemented by a series of live
performances, filmmaking and ceramics workshops, and talks on
experimental cinema in Singapore.
