Artist Talk by Hong Sek Chern: Chinese Ink Painting – Traditional Arts or Contemporary Expression?
Chinese ink painting has a very long tradition rooted in Chinese history and culture. Despite the production of large numbers of Ink Art and a sizeable collector base, it hardly features significantly in chronicles of contemporary art. Is Chinese ink painting facing an invisibility crisis?
Artist Hong Sek Chern shares her experiences as an art practitioner who worked with the medium for the last twenty years. Sek Chern is a recipient of the Young Artist Award awarded by the National Arts Council, and has represented Singapore at the Sao Paolo Biennial and Shenzhen Ink Painting Biennial.
This event is held in conjunction with Singapore Art Week 2018.
