One of the largest surveys of ceramics art in local art history since the 90s, this exhibition focuses on contemporary ceramics made by Singapore-based artists. While the practice of ceramics commonly falls under the radar in art institutions and fairs, the exhibition expands one’s understanding of the clay medium beyond the realm of pottery.

ShanghART Singapore is pleased to kickstart 2021 with a solo presentation of David Diao (b. 1943, lives and works in New York). This will be the Chinese-American artist’s first showcase in Southeast Asia, featuring paintings made between 1999 and 2018.

Central to Yeo’s works are his exaggeratedly female globular forms, bloated on a caricatured sexuality that verges on the comic, grotesque and cute at the same time.
