Synopsis

Sotheby’s is delighted to present our exhibition and auction of Modern and Contemporary Art, Singapore during Singapore Art Week, from 14 - 18 January, 2025. Headlining the auction on January 18 is a rare, fresh-to-market, superb painting by Raden Saleh, who is an 19th century Indonesian nationalist artist and is one of the most important artists in the region. The masterpiece has been in the same private collection for the past century and will be presented alongside 20th and 21st Century artists, both emerging and well-established, from the region, greater Asia, Europe and the United States.

The curation reflects the cosmopolitan nature of the Singaporean society and the ever-increasing demand from a growing collector base in the Southeast Asian region. Being part of Singapore Art Week reiterates Sotheby’s commitment to maintaining an active on-the-ground presence in Singapore. The event is open to the public.
