Synopsis

Trace the artistic evolution of 103-year-old Singaporean artist Lim Tze Peng at the bilingual exhibition Becoming Lim Tze Peng. With over 50 artworks curated from Singapore’s public art collection, the artist’s personal art collection, and rare archival materials, the exhibition showcases the centenarian artist’s lifelong journey and dedication to his craft. Immerse yourself in the nostalgic scenes of early Singapore in Lim’s well-loved paintings, including landmarks like the Singapore River, Kampong Glam and Chinatown. Lim also depicted magnificent landscapes from his art expeditions in Southeast Asia and the world beyond. He is also well-known for inventing his own distinct style of calligraphy, “hutuzi.” Explore the multifaceted journey of Lim Tze Peng in this solo exhibition and discover the evolution of his ink journey.
