Synopsis

Under Painting is an exhibition of 24 newly produced acrylic and oil paintings by emerging Singaporean artists Stephy Chien (b. 2003), Joel Seow (b. 1997), and William Goh (b. 1992) — all alumni of the National Institute of Education. Chien investigates themes of identity and nationality, Seow explores the poetics of liminal spaces, while Goh examines Singapore’s urban landscape and its transformation over time. The exhibition opens on 28 January 2026 at the NIE Art Gallery.
