Synopsis

The eight artists featured in this exhibition span both prewar and postwar generations. It traces a dialogue between Taiwanese masters from the Japanese colonial period, Chen Cheng-po and Yang San-lang, and Singaporean pioneers Cheong Soo Pieng and Chen Wen Hsi. Alongside them, four postwar artists continue the exploration of cultural identity and self-definition, seeking reflections of one another's art histories across the different conditions of their respective straits.
