Synopsis

This exhibition presents recent oil paintings by Willy Tay that examine Singapore’s postcolonial identity and the lingering effects of displacement and inherited history. Drawing from archival photographs and visual fragments, Tay transforms familiar scenes into dreamlike compositions that question power, belonging, and memory. Through this reflective body of work, the artist invites audiences to engage with Singapore’s cultural narratives and the evolving relationship between history and contemporary experience.
