Pataranutaporn’s research invents, investigates, and inspires human-AI systems designed for the flourishing of humanity. Through collaborations with scientists, artists, and filmmakers, his prototype-projects envision pluralistic AI futures beyond dystopian and utopian extremes. Endeavouring to establish "Cyborg Psychology,” as a discipline at the intersection of art and science, his projects deepen our understanding of how AI shapes human experience—and how we might shape AI in return.
AI&I will outline his ideas on cyborg psychology and how his art and technology projects aspire to toward socially progressive and positive outcomes for humanity - speaking to the most urgent and critical issues facing global AI development today.
Pat Pataranutaporn, Ph.D. is an assistant professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he directs the Cyborg Psychology research group. He also serves as co-director of the MIT Media Lab's Advancing Humans with AI (AHA) Research Program.
